Rad Music // Breakbot – “Programme”

leave a comment »

Jumpin’ Jehoshaphat! New Breakbot! And you can download it! YEEEEEEEEEE! Seriously though, Ed Banger just announced that Breakbot’s new album will be released in September. The album is appropriately called “By Your Side.”

“Programme” is a b-side from a forthcoming unnamed single. Listen and download below! It’s a smooth instrumental that starts off reminding me a lot of Breakbot’s label-mates, Jamaica. Then it develops into a gentle tune in typical Breakbot style. I guess he is going to wait and reveal his funky side when the whole album comes out.

The untouchable Breakbot has blessed us again with a sultry smooth mixtape perfect for this summer season. Enough to make Austin Powers weary, the mojo injected into this mixtape is senselessly shagadelic. Get your groove on boys and girls!

Rad Music // Justice – “Civilizaiton”

leave a comment »

A bit more than a week ago, Justice fans were teased  with the Adidas “All In” ad campaign that featured a cut up version of their latest single, “Civilization.” Well, the tease is over. The full version of the song is available to listen to and I’m pretty sure you can buy it on iTunes UK or iTunes France. Let the hype continue, as eager electro fans, like myself, I’m sure, are dying to hear more new Justice.

Rad Video // SebastiAn – “Embody”

leave a comment »

Off his highly anticipated debut album, Total, SebastiAn delivers his new single, “Embody”, via video form today. Directed by, the oft used video director of Ed Banger Records, So Me, this video is an instant classic. The song certainly has that distinct production unique to SebastiAn, but the overall sound is a lot lighter than I was expecting. Are we to think that his entire album is to sound like this? Or (I’m going out on a limb here) maybe this could be some sort of stunt (remember Threnody) to throw everyone off about the sound of the new LP. Eh? Eh?

Jamaica – The band, not the country

with one comment

The Ed Banger label recently added the French duo Jamaica to their elite label and, frankly, these boys just won’t quit. They caused quite a stir in the blogosphere earlier this year with the infectious summer rock jam, “I Think I Like U 2.” The video is great, but that song really gets you. Am I rocking out? Do I want to dance? What is this? It’s Jamaica.

Their debut album, No Problem, is coming out late September, and it is like a rush of energy. With Xavier de Rosnay of Justice, and Peter Franco, one of Daft Punk’s sound engineers, behind the production decks, this album has been polished and cleaned to sound very specific. It’s utterly refreshing; the distinct guitar distortion, the 80′s rock feel, and the genre bending sounds all contribute to make a cohesive album that is unrelentingly addicting. The ever-present guitars will rock you wherever you need to go, while also producing sounds of sweet pop; tracks like “Gentlemen” and “Jericho” will seduce your shower dwelling sing-a-long soul. You’ll also question the action of head banging again when you listen to “By The Numbers” or their latest video release, “Short and Entertaining.”

The video and song present a feeling of controlled chaos. In a sense, that is what No Problem achieves as well. The over bearing presence of the distorted guitars are contained in a way to make you rock out to both rock and pop without really realizing it. Jamaica is the band and No Problem is their new album; it comes out September 23 highly recommended.

I leave you with the closing track of No Problem, “When Do You Wanna Stop Working.” The energy of the album builds up into be released in this climactic ender. Watch out for the face melting guitar solo…

New Breakbot video for “Baby I’m Yours”

with one comment

Breakbot is the king of smooth. Everything he touches immediately increases in it soulfulness. Ed Banger just put out a fresh video for his latest solo effort “Baby I’m Yours (feat. Irfane).” The video was made in a stop-motion animation style using more than 2000 watercolor paintings by Irina Dakeva. The video is just as amazing as the song.

Pick up “Baby I’m Yours” on iTunes and Beatport and check out a remix by Color Blaster below.
