Rad Music Video // “Fantasy (feat. Ruckazoid)” by Breakbot
Ed Banger Records and, famed smooth operator, Breakbot just released the music video for the seemingly timeless funk tune “Fantasy (feat. Ruckazoid).” Needless to say, it’s perfect and more that appropriate for the approaching season of summer. Breakbot sure knows how to pump out the tunes.
Breakbot’s Fantasy EP is due out on June 20.

Rad Music Video // Justice – “Civilizaition”
Justice just dropped this Earth shattering video for their come back single, “Civilization.” The genesical imagery used by the director Edouard Salier is amazingly vivid. Have faith my friends – there are still bands out there that make good music and videos.
“Civilization” is out on June 6, 2011.

new music video & remixes // Daft Punk – Derezzed
Daft Punk just put out an official video for their first, er, single, off their most recent musical endeavor, the Tron: Legacy Official Soundtrack.
You won’t be pressed to find a critic or blogger that hasn’t said “Derezzed” is the most “Daft Punk” thing on the new Tron:OST – but that’s because it is true. It is probably the only song on the album that, if removed from the context of the soundtrack, still holds up as a good DP song. While the entire soundtrack is wonderfully composed and produced, it’s still just a movie score: worthy of a couple full listens but truly meant to be accompanied by the film itself. Even though its place is amongst the complete Tron:OST, let’s bask in the idea that “Derezzed” is actually a new Daft Punk single, cause that’s what everyone seems to be doing.
I must say, I was not expecting this video. Not at all. I thought their appearance in the movie and production of the OST would have been enough publicity for the reclusive robots – but I was wrong. And boy am I glad. This video gives me hope. There has been so much speculation as to what to expect from them: What type of publicity will they be doing? Are they going to tour? Is there going to be a new album? Oh the questions! Oh the possibilities! The guys of Daft Punk seem to be embracing their, now, even bigger, fame and are really putting themselves out there. I can only hope for more.
But seriously, this video is awesome. And Daft Punk’s actual appearance in the video is so bad ass! I really love the retro vibe of this video like the old wire graphics and dusty arcade machines. Also, I couldn’t help but think of Michael Jackson’s video for “Smooth Criminal” in those opening shots – its feels so familiar. Anyways, the video ends up being a short story that parallels to that of the actual concept of Tron – users and programs. Daft Punk may be an exceptional case for this paradigm, but, as robots, running on programs, are they really even users?
Nerdy thoughts aside, and to further provide some evidence that “Derezzed” is being treated like a true Daft Punk single, let’s listen to some remixes. First off, fellow Frenchies, We Are Crisis Children give the song an even more glitchy vibe with a few rad chants. Cassettes Won’t Listen gives the track a more ambient feel with a slight touch of dub. Then we have Breakdown, who effortlessly turns the song into a dance floor killer – lots of build ups and heavy bass. And finally, my favorite of the remixes thus far, is by NTEIBINT. While he certainly adds his own touch, this remix doesn’t stray too far from the original – it simply becomes radder. Enjoy the remixes, go out and buy the Tron: Legacy Soundtrack, and go see TRON!

Rad music video // Uffie – “Difficult”
Ed Banger just dropped the new video for the song “Difficult” by Uffie. I was pleasantly surprised to see this video pop up as it is my favorite song off her debut LP, Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans. The song is super catchy and gets embedded in your head upon first listen. I like how the repetitive nature of the video reflects the same quality of the song. Check out the video below.

Rad music video // El Guincho – “Bombay”
Not that new. Couple days. It’s everywhere. The artist is El Guincho. The song is “Bombay” off his album Pop Negro. The music video is below and it is not safe for work, or underage eyes if you want to get technical. That’s not really the point. The point is, is that this song and video together are quite the rad combination. It may be a bit overwhelming at first, but I think you can handle it. Get up on this!

Rad Music Video // Duck Sauce – “Barbra Streisand”
Well, looks like the boys of Ducksauce finally got all their samples cleared. After months of remixes and wondering, “Barbra Streisand” finally gets the official treatment. The official video is loads of fun with a laundry list of cameos. And to accompany the official video, we also get an official edit. It’s been bootlegs and remixes thus far, but finally, the “real” song is out. Among the mixes being played out by the entire blogosphere, the Fare Soldi Remix, is definitely one of the better, grab that one too.

New LCD Soundsystem video – “Home”
It doesn’t really get any better than this. Good music accompanied by a good music video. Rick Darge directed this little masterpiece, while LCD Soundsystem provided the tunes. I guess it’s an “unofficial” video, but it seems official enough for me. Who doesn’t want to party with a robot?

New Darwin Deez video – “Constellations”
Oh Darwin Deez, how I love thee. I mean, how can I not? Isn’t he just the most adorable little hipster you’ve ever seen? So skinny and quirky, he seems very huggable…
Joking aside, Darwin Deez just put out a rad new video for his old(ish) song “Constellations.” He channels Carl Sagan a la Cosmos, which couldn’t have gone better with this speculative space themed tune. The song, a clear internal battle to understand the heavenly bodies and those around you, is catchy yet ethereal. The melodic hum present throughout much of the track puts you at ease while Deez’s voice and lyrics pull you into a skeptic spin.
Again, I think the use of Sagan inspired imagery really compliments the melody. At times surreal, and others familiar, I’ve quickly fallen madly in love with this video. So much, I felt compelled to make this:
