Mundane Mondaze Mashup 2: The Abrahammer

with one comment

Oh mashups, how I love thee. If you don’t already know, the internet is highly saturated with a plethora of musical mashups, good and bad. With amateurs putting out tons of unworthy mashups, most people rely on guys like Girl Talk, Easter Egg, and The Kleptones for their mashup intake. While said men are mastering the art of mashups, I feel like they are “popular” version of what mashups are all about. If mashups ever make their way on to the radio waves, these would be the chumps the stations play. That’s not to say they suck, it’s just their stuff is made more for the masses because they mostly use music played on the radio.

Do some more perusing around the internet and you can find a niche mashup for nearly any style of music you like. People’s imaginations and creativity are let loose and there is no sound sample out there that isn’t fair game to be used: old movies, TV shows, old music, just whatever. Mashups are everywhere and every once in a while you find one that really blows your mind. That’s what I really like about mashups, they add a lot of randomness and enjoyment to music.

My collection of mashups is substantial and I would really like to share. So, every Monday I’ll let you know about one of my many favorite mashups. And without further ado, let’s get to the second installment of the newest feature here on The Be Rad Blog, Mundane Mondaze Mashup.

The Abrahammer is an American dude hailing from Columbus, Ohio who knows how to make a proper mashup. And when I say proper, I mean proper. Below you’ll find a song by the name of “What Was Your Childhood Like?” and its name is just a hint to some of the samples that appear in the masterful mashup. Doug, Rugrats, Inspector Gadget, The Legend of Zelda, Power Rangers, The Who, Public Enemy, Jurassic Five, Spankrock, Beastie Boys. If any of these names ring bells in your mind, I suggest you check out what I think is one of the best mashups ever created.
