Personal skateparks…
Skateboard companies, mostly distributors, and even magazines have been busy the past the few years building private and personalized skateparks in their enormous warehouses and deeming them training facilities for their precious riders. The idea of having a personal skatepark is an idea that I’m sure every skateboarder has dreamt of, but companies these days are making it the status quo. Black Box, Syndrome, The Berrics, Crailtap, Transworld, Thrasher, Sole Tech – all of these companies have their very own skateparks and put out regular videos of their riders riding them. I was going to try and get all deep about what type of impact these training facilities have on skateboarding but I don’t really have any revelations of that manner. Although, one thing I think these parks make easy is the production of web videos. While these personal skateparks may have started as actual “training facilities”, now I feel they are nothing more than a means to churn out advertisements by way of web videos. That being said, I’ll give you two recent videos that really got me hyped to go skating rather than buy a product.
First, we have some Crailtap heads – Biebel, Johnson, Mariano – ripping The Berrics – Steve Berra and Eric Koston’s personal skatepark – to shreds. Gotta love that song too.
Second, we have a Fuel TV commercial featuring a couple random skaters – Joey Brezinski, Mike Anderson, Austyn Gillette, James Craig, Vincent Alvarez, Nick Garcia – skating at the Crailtap skatepark. The edit on this video is amazing. They should just put it on an infinite loop.
I am so going skating today.
Be Rad. Enjoy.
