Rad Music // Miike Snow – “Devil’s Work”

with 2 comments

Miike Snow exploded all over the music scene in 2009 with their debut self-titled album that, had I found the time to make a ‘Best Albums of 2009’ post, would have been my number one. The trio – Grammy Award winning producers Bloodshy & Avant and the blessed vocalist Andrew Wyatt – have been relatively quite since then: until now.

“Devil’s Work” premiered today right along with a new website from the band. On their Facebook page, they stated their album is finished, but whether or not this song will appear on the album, or if it’s more or less a promo song to get the band’s fans concerned again, is unclear. Regardless, the song has a distinctive sound – from the opening piano melody to the surprising horns – that has got me all excited about their new album.

I’m totally going to listen to their debut when I get home…

Be Rad. Enjoy.

  1. Anybody know where the piano is sampled from (or what is inspired by)? It dangles a memory carrot of the 90s in front of my hippocampus.

    • The piano definitely resonated something inside of me – it really “makes” the song – but no memories of songs I have heard in the past come to mind. I will have my ears perked to see if I can come up with anything. Thanks for commenting!
