Rad Art // GINGERS!

with 2 comments

by Ben Douglas

“Throughout history, the redhead has been subject to prejudice and persecution. Today, we seek to make a little money from their plight.

They are the perpetual step-children in our midst. Long ago, the redhead may have been spat upon for “stealing fire from Hell” or burned alive for being in league with the Devil himself. Nowadays, those with copper tresses are the targets of finger-pointing and laughter, even physical violence brought on by pop artists and long-running animated television series.

But now, for only the cost of a just a few high-priced coffee drinks, you can support those titian-haired among us by purchasing this shirt. Each one is painstakingly screen-printed with the images of eleven of the most beloved redheads in history and Carrot Top in an effort to bring a little sunshine into the otherwise dark existence of Gingers throughout the world. Buy one for the redhead in your life, or wear it yourself to show that you stand shoulder-to-shoulder with every highly functional, yet genetically deficient bundle of anger and beastly sexual desire in the world.

Well, close to shoulder-to-shoulder, anyway. The last thing you want is one of them touching you, after all.” (words via here)

Buy it as a t-shirt here.

Two new Banksy pieces have been spotted and cofirmed in Los Angeles.

I’m really diggin’ on the Charlie Brown work. Schulz is probably rolling over in his grave.

Rad Day // Valentine’s Day super post

leave a comment »

My Valentine’s Day began last night – I cooked my wonderful girlfriend an equally as wonderful dinner. I told her she better watch out; I might replace her as the resident executive chef. I really love Valentine’s Day as it is a perfect excuse to spoil the hell out of the love of my life.

Here’s a hodgepodge of Valentine’s Day goodies for you to enjoy.

For starters, Yeasayer just debuted their video for “I Remember,” directed by Sophia Peer, and, in spirit of today, have decided to release their I Remember EP for free (as a way for you to give it as a gift) from their website. What a rad band, right? Head over to their special Valentine’s Day website to watch the video and download the EP for someone special (or yourself).

Google has a nice Valentine’s Day logo going.

How about some lovey dovey GIFs…

OH YA! Love and video games go really well together too.

Creepy Link Valentine // by Sarah Sobole

Let’s end this super post with some music. Last year, Breakbot put out a Valentine’s Mix that, although it was put out last year, may still be fresh to your ears. It was to mine. Download it here and check out the tracklist here.

Well…that’s all the Valentine’s radness that I can muster up. I hope y’all enjoyed it.

Be Rad. Enjoy.

Rad Art // Muertitos by Christian Montenegro

leave a comment »

I came across these cute yet morbid calavera inspired artworks by Christian Montenegro. They belong to the set “Muertitos,” which, using my inkling of knowledge of the Spanish language, translates to “little dead ones.” Montenegro takes various personal styles – glam, rocker, punk – and attributes them to his “Muertitos” in a highly stylized manner; I really love the hyperbolic bearing. Below are the “Muertitos” I feel I identify most with.

I’m not much a tennis player, but this “Tenista” (and the word “tenista” itself) just put a smile on my face.

Check out the entire “Muertitos” set here and be sure to check out the rest of Christian Montenegro’s artwork on his website.
