Rad Music // Miike Snow – “Devil’s Work”

with 2 comments

Miike Snow exploded all over the music scene in 2009 with their debut self-titled album that, had I found the time to make a ‘Best Albums of 2009’ post, would have been my number one. The trio – Grammy Award winning producers Bloodshy & Avant and the blessed vocalist Andrew Wyatt – have been relatively quite since then: until now.

“Devil’s Work” premiered today right along with a new website from the band. On their Facebook page, they stated their album is finished, but whether or not this song will appear on the album, or if it’s more or less a promo song to get the band’s fans concerned again, is unclear. Regardless, the song has a distinctive sound – from the opening piano melody to the surprising horns – that has got me all excited about their new album.

I’m totally going to listen to their debut when I get home…

2009 belongs to Miike Snow

Miike Snow put out one of the best albums of 2009. I am stoked to see that at the end of the year there are no signs of slowing them down. Their debut self-titled album is chock-full of radness and their latest video effort is no exception. Check out their newest video for “Silvia” below.

Miike Snow recently did a myspace transmissions set that displayed their uncanny ability to produce some seriously good live music. I include this version of “Silvia” to share because frankly, it’s better than what is on the actual album. They lengthen that track and add layer upon layers of extra goodness. This song whole band is stunning live and given the chance I highly recommend you get your butt out there to see them.
