Ok. Ok. Maybe not the greatest, but undoubtedly one of the best in the near past and probably future. I, of course, am biased because of my love for Julian Casablancas, but I don’t care. I’m probably not the only person out there who has just stopped caring about SNL all together due to it’s lameness. The comedic musical moments brought together by Andy and crew are pretty much the only thing of value on that show anymore and his latest and (in my opinion) greatest with JC is superb not only for the comedic value, but also for the greatness of the song. Comedy aside, Casablancas delivers his typical insightful, almost cheesy lyrics, that you can’t help sing along with. In the severe Strokes drought that the world has been experiencing for the past years, “Boombox” along with some other musical efforts from Casablancas, are the guiding light to the end of the tunnel that is hopefully The Strokes’ fourth LP.
I was afraid that the video for “Boombox” was never going to be made; but thanks to my dear friend Annie who informed me its existence, I present to you the video for “Boombox” performed by The Lonely Island featuring Julian Casablancas.
Be Rad. Enjoy.
