Washed Out put out his debut LP, Within and Without, out earlier this year with amazingly rad results. The album will undoubtedly improve your summer if you let its equalizing and harmonious melodies penetrate your soul. Seriously, get on that.
More recently though, Washed Out got together with Yours Truly to perform a more “acoustic” and “soft rock” version of his song “Far Away.” Apparently, Ernest Greene has been delving in to the classic rock sounds of yesteryear. The video and sounds are enticing as they serve as previews of what to expect when seeing Washed Out live. I must admit, considering Washed Out is touring with Cut Copy this Autumn, I really thought that this video was going to be a cover of Cut Copy’s song “Far Away” rather than Washed Out’s. Kind of a bummer I got my hopes up…

Rad Music // Washed Out – “Eyes Be Closed”
The web was a buzz last week over Washed Out’s newest track, “Eyes Be Closed,” as well as the announcement that Ernest Greene, the illustrious man behind Washed Out – and possibly the whole “chillwave movement” – will finally be releasing a full length album, Within and Without (album art above). The debut album is set to release on July 12 – just when your summer is starting to get into full swing – on Sub Pop Records.
Really though, if you haven’t heard of Washed Out yet, get to it. The music is whimsical, atmospheric and all-in-all perfect for spring and the summer.

Rad Music // RAC VOL 2
Not the newest of news but most definitely worthy of mentioning on this wonderful blog of mine.
RAC VOL 2 comes out tomorrow, March 4!
RAC is an acronym for Remix Artist Collective and they happen to put out some of the best remixes EVER! Duh. They’ve been releasing teaser tracks for VOL 2 since Monday and they, of course, are nothing short of rad. My favorite is the remix of “New Theory” by Washed Out. I didn’t think you could remix a dreamy song to sound dreamier but they’ve done it. Oh boy it’s dreamy. Listen and download the track below then head over to RAC’s website to check out two other remixed tracks the will be appearing on RAC VOL 2 tomorrow.
